Kindness Prevails: Day 24

Would you like to be rewarded for your kindness?

Well, if you’ve been keeping up with my blog for a few weeks now, I hope you you agree that kindness by no means has to come with a reward, but at the same time it can be a nice added bonus. Also, I believe in karma and that if you do a good deed or an act of kindness, you will get it back in some shape or form.

Today I’d like to share another campaign for charity happening through social media, where each day the campaign advertises a new charity in the Boston area, and if you make a donation of $10 or more you are entered to win a trip to Australia. Each individual donation is entered into the raffle. Check the site out here for daily updates on where to donate.

While I definitely stand by the fact that some of the greatest acts of kindness are of no cost, something I’ve written about multiple times, I also think the holiday season is a great time to focus on giving back.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the excitement of presents and holiday celebrations that personally I tend to neglect the fact that not everyone is fortunate enough to open presents on Christmas day or enjoy a big, home cooked meal with family and friends. Therefore, I think getting involved with charity, whether that means making donations or volunteering, is extra important this time of year.

Even if you’re not from the Boston area, be sure to look into how you can get involved with your local charities. Though donations are a great way to do so, getting involved can range from playing with puppies at a local animal shelter, to delivering presents to children’s hospitals. How will you make a difference this holiday season?
