Kindness Prevails: Day Eight

“It’s not about what it is, it’s about what it can become.”

Yesterday was one of my best friend’s 21st birthdays. She is one of the kindest, most selfless people I know, so there was no shortage of happiness and love relayed back to her throughout the day. Kindness lesson of the day: it comes full circle.

There was one particular gesture that stood out to me that I wanted to share for today’s post.

Her “little sister” in our sorority gave her a copy of Dr Suess’ The Lorax for her birthday. She told her it is a symbol of all the little things she does and qualities she has that are making a positive impact on the world. Most 21-year-olds don’t necessarily expect to receive a children’s book on their birthday, but it was the perfect representation of the impact of one kind gesture.

There’s nothing more important than celebrating people who spread their kindness everyday- and it was beautiful to see how many people recognized this yesterday by making my friend’s birthday so special for her.
